As a School Crossing Patrol Officer, you will play a vital role in community safety by ensuring children and other members of the community safely cross the road at a designated point between specified times.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe crossing for children and community members at the designated point between school opening and closing times.
- Attend the patrol point daily, in all weather conditions, including on short notice if the school is unscheduledly closed.
- Maintain vigilance and good road sense, applying knowledge of the Highway Code and Green Cross Code.
- Assist children in safely crossing the road during designated hours (08:20‑09:15 and 14:50‑15:25).
- Report any incidents or safety concerns to appropriate authorities.
Qualifications
- No formal qualifications are required, but previous experience working with children is desirable.
- Ability to cope in all weather conditions.
- Good road sense and knowledge of Highway Code/Green Cross Code.

- Permanent, part‑time, term‑time contract.
- 7.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.
- Main hours are 08:20‑09:15 and 14:50‑15:25.
