Job Details: A Modern Apprenticeship is a work‑based training programme that leads to an industry‑approved qualification. The training can be both on and off‑the‑job, which means Modern Apprentices (MAs) learn the right mix of skills, abilities and knowledge. You will work on all aspects of Building Services activities, which can range from maintenance and repair to new builds.
You will be working under the direct instruction of a tradesperson, or alone, to develop the skills and knowledge for the chosen trade whilst demonstrating enthusiasm and willingness to achieve a high degree of competence.
The Person: We particularly encourage applications from women, who are currently underrepresented within this type of work. These vacancies are restricted to applicants who live in Fife. You must be aged between 16 and 24 on or by the specified start date. Alternatively successful applicants can start at 15 years old; however your 16th birthday must be by 30th September 2026. A School Leavers Form and National Insurance number will be required.
Applicants should have achieved or be expecting to achieve by August 2026: 3 SCQF Level 4’s or National 4’s to include English, Maths and practical craft skills. And/or an NC, SVQ1 or an NPA in the relevant construction trade will be considered as alternative qualifications in line with SCQF Matrix. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve SVQ level 3 (SCQF Level 6). You may be required to travel out with Fife to attend College to achieve this qualification.
You will have an appreciation of the construction industry and knowledge of tasks undertaken by a Glazier. You will have the ability to follow instructions and be able to work outside and deal with the demands of the job.
If you are short‑listed you will be required to carry out a skills test and, where applicable, an aptitude test. This will enable us to observe your hand skills, attitude, and the ability to follow instruction. You need to pass this prior to interview.
Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG Scheme.
