Position: Childcare Practitioner – Aberdour Out of School Club. Permanent part-time position with 13 hours per week across the school year.
Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: 13 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 14:45–18:00, and various shifts during school holidays.
Location: Aberdour Out of School Club, Aberdour Primary School (DSM), ABERDOUR, Fife, KY3 0UP, GB.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, facilitate and supervise a wide range of play-based activities and social experiences both indoors and outdoors, including setting up the play space to ensure it is safe, stimulating and welcoming.
- Empower children to lead their own play, guiding them as needed to boost creativity and independence.
- Support children to prepare healthy snacks in line with dietary and nutritional guidelines.
- Encourage children to build confidence, self-esteem, and lifelong skills through play and exploration.
- Deal with accidents and incidents, responding calmly and professionally, ensuring children’s health and wellbeing needs are met.
Person and Qualifications:
- Fun, engaging and experienced in working with children and young people of all ages.
- Holds a relevant childcare qualification or is willing to work towards one as required by the Scottish Social Services Council.
- Reliable, with good communication skills and able to work as part of a team.
- Must obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant scheme.
- Must have or obtain Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration within three months of appointment.
- Must begin registration and complete any required qualification within six months of appointment.
