A well-established and highly respected UK property investment and asset management business is seeking an experienced Senior Service Charge Accountant to join their growing finance team. The business manages a diverse UK property portfolio including commercial, retail, and mixed-use assets. This is a senior position responsible for overseeing the service charge accounting function across a varied portfolio while supporting the wider property and asset management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for the preparation and production of service charge accounts across a large multi-asset property portfolio
- Managing service charge budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations in line with lease agreements and RICS guidelines
- Reviewing accounts prepared by junior team members and providing technical oversight
- Liaising closely with property managers, asset managers, and external managing agents
- Managing year-end processes and audit queries with external auditors
- Reviewing service charge expenditure and ensuring correct cost allocation
- Assisting with cash flow forecasting and variance analysis across service charge funds
- Supporting the implementation and improvement of service charge accounting processes and controls
Requirements
- Proven experience in service charge accounting within the property sector
- Strong understanding of RICS service charge regulations and best practice
- Experience working with commercial or mixed-use property portfolios
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with property accounting systems (e.g. MRI, Yardi, TRAMPS or similar)
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work closely with property and asset management teams
- Ideally ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualified or part qualified (or equivalent experience)
