A small, but established company specialising in researching and advising on Japanese equities, regulated by the FCA, is looking to expand its business and is seeking a trainee in Chief Exec Support & Salesperson. You will work with and be trained every step of the way by shadowing and supporting the director within a team‐oriented and rewarding professional environment. No previous equity research analysis experience is necessary. A native level of English with strong communication skills is required; excellent Japanese speaking skills will be advantageous. You will be exposed to a high‐level business environment with responsibility from the early stage. This is an excellent chance to put your Japanese to effective use daily, gain new skills and receive on‐the‐job training.

Role details

  • Type: Permanent, full‐time
  • Working hours: 07:00 – 16:30, Monday to Friday
  • Salary: £25k–£27k depending on experience; a generous bonus may be considered once you develop sufficient skills and contribute to the company
  • Start: ASAP
  • Location: Burton-upon-Trent, near Derby (initially onsite; remote work may be considered after a few years)

Responsibilities

  • Short term: gain an in‐depth knowledge of all aspects of the company by shadowing and supporting the Director
  • Long term: maintain strong relationships and develop new relationships with global institutional investors and Japanese corporations, promoting the company and its ideas
  • Collaborate with the Business Development sales teams to further the company's outreach
  • Role as a trainee: upload data; analyse and organise data; update the website; manage social media channels; format and upload reports; create presentations; provide project support; liaise with data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg); shadow and support the Director

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a small team and take on responsibility at an early stage
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to rapidly learn and understand new tasks
  • Willingness to share new ideas and learning
  • University degree, minimum 2:1
  • MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
