A leading Japanese bank is seeking a Relationship Manager (Associate / VP level) specialising in Real Estate Finance to join its London office. This role will focus on real estate lending to Japanese and international clients, combining relationship management, business development, and credit/risk oversight. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the bank’s real estate finance portfolio in the UK and Europe. Japanese speaking ability is not essential but highly advantageous.
Compensation & Details
- SALARY: £70,000 – £100,000 per year (depending on experience) + performance-based bonus
- WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00
- START DATE: ASAP
- LOCATION: London
- WORK STYLE: Hybrid – currently two days remote, three days in the office (subject to change)

Key Responsibilities
- Relationship Management & Business Development
- Serve as a Relationship Manager for Japanese, Asian, and international corporate clients, particularly in the real estate sector
- Identify potential clients and new business opportunities
- Identify and originate new real estate lending opportunities (development finance, acquisitions, investment loans)
- Real Estate Finance & Deal Execution
- Structure and execute real estate financing transactions
- Negotiate loan terms, including pricing, covenants, and conditions
- Conduct financial analysis and assess project feasibility
- Coordinate internal approvals and documentation processes
- Risk Management & Monitoring
- Conduct due diligence on borrowers, projects, and assets
- Monitor loan performance, project progress, and repayment schedules
- Ensure asset quality through appropriate credit risk management
- Implement risk mitigation strategies
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with UK/EU regulations, AML/KYC requirements
- Prepare internal reports for senior management and headquarters
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments and regions
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in real estate finance / property lending in the UK
- Strong knowledge of UK real estate market and lending practices
- Experience in corporate banking, structured finance, or credit analysis
- Understanding of financial regulations, AML, and compliance
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
