Customer Support Service Engineer role involves frequent international travel to customer sites worldwide, providing installation, maintenance, repairs and technical support for advanced X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) systems and associated equipment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on technical work, international travel and delivering outstanding customer service.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or Physics, together with strong problem‑solving skills and a customer‑focused approach.
- Main Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, maintenance, upgrades and repairs of X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) systems at customer sites worldwide
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance and warranty work
- Test repaired equipment prior to returning it to customers
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting both on‑site and remotely
- Deliver customer training on equipment operation and maintenance
- Prepare service reports and maintain accurate business records
- Obtain customer acceptance following completion of service work
- Report equipment issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Support fellow Service Engineers and the Customer Support team as required
- Ideal Candidate
- Degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or Physics (or equivalent)
- Background in scientific instrumentation
- Knowledge of X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) would be advantageous
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Good time management and organisational abilities
- Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis
- Full, clean UK driving licence would be advantageous
