A Japanese trading company is currently recruiting a Sales Engineer to work in their Burton-on-Trent office. In this role, you will support automated production lines for automotive and air conditioning clients, providing technical support, customer coordination, and on-site assistance across Europe. The ideal candidate will have a technical/manufacturing background, preferably with engineering-related knowledge. Experience in sales at a trading company would be advantageous.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop strong relationships with customers and suppliers and create long-term partnerships.
  • Act as the initial point of contact to address customer needs and concerns and fulfil RFQs.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the product range and service offerings.
  • Advise customers on setting up manufacturing processes to ensure production lines are used effectively.
  • Supervise machinery and equipment commissioning and installation at customer sites.
  • Resolve technical failures at customer sites and liaise internally with overseas technical experts.
  • Visit customer and supplier sites, mostly in Europe, as required on a regular basis.
  • Business trips are required approximately 1–2 times per month (mainly within the UK, EU).
Ideal Candidate
  • Technical background and experience in a technical/manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automotive, Manufacturing Process, or Automation Technology would be advantageous.
  • Experience in B2B sales (within a trading company is preferred).
  • Driving license.
  • Proactive and able to independently drive tasks to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and customer empathy.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to seek clarification and engage with team members proactively.
  • Tech-savvy with excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Business level fluency in both English and Japanese.
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Skills in other 2D/3D CAD and PLC programming skills would be advantageous.
Additional Details
  • All applicants for the Technical Sales & Support Engineer must have the right to work in the country as the Company is not able to offer visa support.
  • We may consider applications from people on Working holiday and graduate visas, depending on their experience.
Contract & Logistics
  • TYPE: Permanent, full-time.
  • WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday.
  • SALARY: up to £40k, depending on experience + bonus.
  • START: ASAP.
