A major international trading company is currently recruiting a part-time Trade Operator to support precious metals operations and settlements across its international offices.

The Trade Operator will focus on metal transfers, currency settlements, data reconciliation, long-term contract administration, and operational support for the physical precious metals business and new projects.

The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of the precious metals market, settlements and deliveries, experience in physical precious metals logistics, strong numeracy and attention to detail, and the ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Arrange metal and currency settlements in accordance with company procedures and within tight deadlines
  • Administer and settle long-term contracts and process related financing
  • Follow up on overdue payments and arrange settlement where necessary
  • Investigate settlement queries with the Accounts Department and customers
  • Carry out data entry and data checks, including daily USD, EUR and JPY settlements
  • Complete daily and monthly report and account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare and send invoices and maintain digital filing, archiving and customer database records
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, branch offices and agents by telephone, email, and other correspondence
  • Maintain, monitor and extract information from trading and accounting systems as required
  • Input trades into IT2, process data imports and check trade input as part of the end-of-day closing process
  • Perform FX reconciliations against metal trades
  • Monitor maturing leases and support marketers with related documentation and administration
  • Assist with physical shipments and logistics and respond to internal and external audit requests
  • Collaborate with external system vendors and the internal IT Department to troubleshoot operational or system issues
  • Apply relevant accounting requirements and resolve internal and external issues or counterparty claims smoothly
  • Ensure efficient document workflow in line with internal control procedures and create new workflow processes where required
  • Provide support for new regulatory and business projects including UK REACH and CBAM
  • Carry out other departmental tasks as instructed by the line manager when required
  • Ideal Candidate
  • Good knowledge of the precious metals market, settlements, and deliveries
  • Basic understanding of the mechanics of Front Office trading
  • Experience in physical precious metals logistics
  • Strong PC skills with the ability to use current systems and adapt to new electronic ways of working
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
  • IT knowledge of SAP
  • Business level of fluency in English
  • Very high standard of accuracy and attention to detail with a high level of numeracy
  • Strong prioritisation and self-organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks without direct supervision
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Professional influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Degree-level education and GCSE-level Mathematics and English Language, or overseas equivalents
  • Middle Office experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of IT2, Trinity or similar systems is desirable
  • Conditions
  • Location: Central London
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 1pm
  • Working Style: Hybrid working, 3 days a week in office
  • Job Type: part-time, permanent
