A global Japanese trading company is seeking an experienced Quality Control Engineer to join its London office. You will be responsible for the delivery of continued improvement to the Steel Business Unit to ensure the high standards of quality required by the company and its Customers are delivered upon.

The ideal candidate should have experience in quality control within Steel manufacturing or Gas & Oil sector, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to influence and lead teams.

Type: Permanent, full-time

Working Hours: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday

Salary: £60k - £70k depending on experience

Start: ASAP

Location: London, (Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home)

Main Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of continued improvement of the Steel Business Unit
  • Engage with customers and suppliers’ senior quality leaders and project managers
  • Responsible for reporting regional Quality Control matters to management
  • Oversee and maintain the regional Quality Control program in compliance with ISO 9001:2015, API Q1, 5CT, 5L, and others
  • Provide operational day-to-day Quality Control service and consulting
  • Support Departments by reviewing Manufacturing Procedure Specifications and Quality Control Plans
  • Coordinate with suppliers and BU on the development and review of concessions and deviations
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Management System, recommend improvements, and share Lessons Learned
  • Prepare and participate in Quality Management reviews meetings and Monthly Quality Reports
  • Lead and support the local audit program
  • Support and participate on Tenders and RQIs regarding QC matters
  • Ensure compliance with company rules and applicable legislation
  • Regular travel regularly as part of your role to Europe and occasionally to Asia

Ideal Candidate:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Quality Control within the steel manufacturing and inventory management markets
  • Degree qualified in Engineering
  • Proficiency in tubular products and premium connections
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 and API standards with auditing experience
  • Proven QC experience in a manufacturing/inspection environment
  • Technical proficiency in OCTG tubular standards (API 5CT, 5L)
  • Experience dealing with major energy clients
  • Knowledge in data analysis and business intelligence software
  • Business level fluency in English
