A leading wholesaler in the UK is currently recruiting a Delivery Route Planner to join its team in Surrey, UK. The Delivery Route Planner will be responsible for planning and optimising daily delivery routes, coordinating transport operations, and supporting wider operational activities. This role will work closely with drivers, customers, warehouse teams, and internal departments to ensure efficient and compliant delivery operations.

The ideal candidate should have strong routing and 3PL management experience and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced operational environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimise daily delivery routes for a fleet of approximately 20 vehicles delivering 200+ orders per day
  • Analyse destinations, vehicle capacity, driver hours, and customer requirements to improve route efficiency
  • Communicate delivery routes and special instructions to drivers
  • Arrange alternative delivery solutions through third-party transport partners when required
  • Support compliance activities, driver debriefs, customer queries, and delivery discrepancy resolution
  • Maintain accurate operational records and documentation in line with company procedures and audit requirements
  • Coordinate with production team and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operational planning
  • Provide general operational and administrative support as required

Ideal Candidate

  • Recent 2+ years of transport route planning experience in the UK is required
  • Good knowledge of UK geography and road networks is a must
  • Understanding of HGV/van operations and relevant legislation is beneficial
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Able to learn new processes quickly and follow procedures accurately
  • Good interpersonal skills and professional telephone manner
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Salary: £32,000–£35,000 per annum depending on experience
