CPI has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist 1 - Process to join the team at our state of the art National Industrial Biotechnology Facility in Wilton, Redcar. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and realisation of project work through preparation, development, design, and implementation in line with individual team and the wider technology team’s requirements. Working under the technical supervision of senior colleagues, you will support a range of activities to meet business objectives and play a key role in transferring processes into our pilot fermentation facilities.
The Role

- Maintain consistent and documented compliance with all relevant Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE), Data Integrity (DI), quality and best practice requirements.
- Set up, plan and execute experimental/pilot scale runs (20-1000L fermentations), analysing and reporting results to agreed standards.
- Support the smooth transfer of processes from customer sites and CPI laboratories into larger-scale pilot fermentation facilities.
- Provide microbiological support within the pilot plant for Operations and Bioprocess Development teams.
- Provide clearly documented records of technical data, methodologies, and decisions.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Communicate effectively with the wider operations teams to deliver project outcomes.
- Present findings and contribute to reports and presentations to raise awareness of CPI’s capabilities.
