CPI is looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial leader to drive commercial growth in the medical devices and diagnostics sector. The successful candidate will lead CPI’s HealthTech Business Development team, build strategic partnerships, and grow revenue through innovative R & D, product development services, and consortium-based commercial programmes. CPI is a UK-based, independent technology innovation centre that helps companies bring cutting-edge ideas to market faster and more cost-effectively. As a Catapult, CPI connects businesses with world-class expertise, facilities, and funding to drive innovation in HealthTech, pharmaceutical manufacturing, sustainability, and materials.

The Role

  • Delivering sales targets and growing customer accounts.
  • Understanding client R & D needs and competitively positioning CPI’s value proposition.
  • Leading a high-performing BD team and managing key client relationships.
  • Driving pipeline growth through traditional, digital, and strategic channels.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to shape market strategy and forecasts.
  • Translating strategy into action and inspiring high performance.
  • Managing budgets and supporting professional development.
  • Championing a culture of innovation, inclusion, and wellbeing.

The person we are seeking

We’re seeking a commercially driven, entrepreneurial leader with a strong foundation in science, engineering, or business, and a passion for innovation in the HealthTech sector. The successful candidate will also:

  • Have a proven track record in B2B sales, consistently exceeding targets in technology-driven environments.
  • Have a strong network in the medical devices and diagnostics sector, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of medical technologies, clinical applications, and healthcare systems.
  • Be a strategic thinker with a sharp eye for market trends and commercial opportunities.
  • Be agile, adaptable, and resilient in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Have an innovative mindset with strong problem-solving and value creation capabilities.
  • Be skilled in negotiation, relationship building, and influencing diverse stakeholders.
  • Be an excellent communicator, with the ability to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Possess strong commercial acumen with a focus on execution, ROI, and business growth.
  • Be degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Business, Science, or Engineering (Master’s preferred).
