The International Centre for Life is a thriving science hub in the heart of Newcastle. Life is home to NHS clinics as well as scientists and researchers from Newcastle University. Life Science Centre is at the heart of this ‘circle of science’ and aspires to be the most accessible and inclusive visitor attraction in the UK. It has an international reputation for its work in sensory engagement.

We’re looking for a Science Engagement Manager to lead and support the delivery of high quality visitor engagement across our science centre. You’ll coach and support our Explainers, who are a key part of the visitor experience team to deliver confident, welcoming and inclusive face to face engagement, working closely with Duty Managers to ensure a consistently great visitor experience. You’ll collaborate with colleagues to understand visitor feedback, help shape science engagement ideas, and line manage the Lead Maker and Science Engagement Laboratory Technician.

This role will require weekend working and some evening work. You’ll bring experience of facilitating and coaching teams, delivering science related content for different audiences, and working in a busy visitor facing environment. A genuine interest in STEM, strong interpersonal skills, and a flexible approach to work are essential. A degree (or equivalent) in a science or relevant subject is desirable.
