We have an exciting opportunity to become part of our Apprenticeship and Higher Technical Education (HTE) compliance team as an Apprenticeship Compliance Officer. This role sits within the Apprenticeship Operations Team, supporting the portfolio of apprenticeship programmes to ensure quality and compliance of our provision is monitored and maintained. The team works with a wide range of external organisations from public to private, levy and non-levy employers and across all faculties and directorates within the University. You must have significant knowledge of the Department for Education apprenticeship funding rules, and any other relevant regulatory body that impacts apprenticeship delivery and compliance.
Responsibilities
- The oversight and day-to-day monitoring of apprenticeship compliance for all the administrative and reporting systems, processes and procedures that maintain compliance with the Department for Education (DfE), Ofsted and any other apprenticeship-related regulatory or external body.
- Work under the leadership of the Apprenticeship Compliance Manager to embed systems and processes that ensure the University’s compliance.
- Collaborate with faculty colleagues delivering our apprenticeship provision to ensure compliance with the DfE funding rules, including Off the Job (OTJ), Breaks in Learning, Gateway and End Point Assessment.
- Provide specialist advice, guidance and support in line with Apprenticeship funding rules.
- Evaluate and analyse complex evidence and data from a range of sources to identify potential areas of risk.
- Conduct sample audits of apprenticeship evidence packs and evaluate audit outcomes, including risk and issues identification and the design of appropriate mitigation strategies.
What We Are Looking For
- A‑levels or equivalent and educated to degree level or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience of working in a Higher Education apprenticeship role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to stay organised under pressure.
- Experience using SITS, e:Vision, or similar student systems.
- Extensive knowledge of apprenticeship funding rules and apprenticeship compliance.
- A proactive, supportive, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- An enthusiastic individual committed to delivering a high‑quality service.
