Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE)
We invite expressions of interest for a six‑month interim appointment to the role of Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) within the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences (FABSS).
About the Role
This strategic leadership role will support the Faculty in delivering the University’s 2035 Strategy and advancing our commitment to inclusive student success and world‑class research. The interim Associate Dean will work closely with the Dean of Faculty, Heads of School, and Heads of Research Centres to lead the development and implementation of the Faculty’s research and knowledge exchange strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Faculty’s contribution to research student recruitment, satisfaction, and progression.
- Chair specified Faculty Committees, membership of the Faculty Executive Board, and represent the Faculty on specified University committees.
- Line‑manage Heads of Research Centres and deputise for the Dean of faculty where required.
- Oversee Faculty contributions to external assessments such as the Research Excellence Framework or Knowledge Excellence Framework.
- Support the drive to diversify research leverage in enterprise and engagement.
- Support Heads of Research Centres in developing and delivering plans to support research that is original, rigorous and significant, and that generates external funding.

- Experience in managing research strategy and supporting academic teams.
