The Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) is an independent organisation dedicated to exposing human rights violations and threats to democracy. We achieve this through open source research, digital investigations, capacity-building with local partners, and collaboration with media to amplify our impact. CIR was born out of a determination to expose those spreading harm – online and offline – around the world, particularly in areas of violent conflict, such as Ukraine, Sudan and Myanmar. Our projects are at the forefront of efforts to investigate and document human rights abuses, war crimes, harms targeting women and minorities, and influence operations. We work closely with multilateral and national justice accountability bodies.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Data Analyst to join our team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a strong interest in the Middle East region, data analysis, and open-source research. The role will lead on the management of the projects data infrastructure, working with the team to collect, clean and organise data from a variety of sources and ensuring data is logged in the projects network diagram software. The individual will work directly with the projects investigation teams to analyse both small and large datasets to identify trends, as well as understand data needs across the programme and provide insights.

Experience Needed:

  • Proficiency in Arabic or Farsi
  • Prior experience working on Middle Eastern regional issues.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau and the network diagram software Neo4J.
  • Experience managing and interrogating sizeable datasets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to present findings clearly to non-technical audiences.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with automating data collection, extraction and input.
  • Understanding of open-source investigation techniques and online research tools.

Working Arrangements:

This role can be office-based or hybrid working with the opportunity to work from CIR’s offices in London, if desired.
