About the Role – DFYNE Your Career: I’m Oscar, the CEO & founder of DFYNE. I’m looking for someone who will be a critical member of the global finance department responsible for managing the company’s international tax compliance, planning and reporting obligations. We’re looking for a Senior International Tax Accountant who can provide expert guidance on complex international tax regulations, with a strong emphasis on UK corporate tax law and the tax implications of a global digital retail presence. This role requires strong technical knowledge & capability across UK VAT, duties & customs taxes, GST and US sales tax, as well as combining the ability to operate commercially and influence business decisions. You’ll be trusted to run both direct and indirect tax processes, influence decision making at senior level and build scalable systems and controls that grow with DFYNE, all the while operating in a no bulls**t, high performance environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Planning & Strategy: Identify and evaluate international tax planning opportunities to optimise the company’s global tax structure and minimise tax exposure, particularly related to e-commerce.
- UK and International Tax Compliance: Manage the timely and accurate preparation and filing of UK and foreign corporate income tax returns and VAT/GST sales and state taxes in multiple jurisdictions.
- Customs & Duties: Oversee compliance requirements and manage the reporting related to import/export customs duties and tariffs across relevant jurisdictions.
- Tax Provision: Prepare or review the quarterly and annual income tax provision and statutory disclosures, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, including deferred tax reporting.
- Transfer Pricing: Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of global transfer pricing policies and documentation, ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Global Expansion Support: Support new market entries and business initiatives with tax risk assessments and compliance reviews.
- Employment Tax Compliance: Oversee the compliance and reporting of UK employment-related taxes, including payroll taxes and social security contributions.
- Tax developments: Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess impact on business operations, advising senior management accordingly. Liaise with tax advisors as necessary to progress new and/or complex tax areas.
Experience Needed:
- Qualified Accountant (CTA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in international tax, preferably within a large multinational corporation or public accounting firm serving e-commerce/retail clients.
- Strong working knowledge of UK corporate tax law and international tax compliance and general principles of global tax systems.
- Demonstrated experience with tax accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex tax issues to non-finance personnel.
