About the role - DFYNE Your Career: First off, it’s best I introduce myself (person behind the keyboard here), it’s not the norm on a job role spec, but I feel it’s important you get introduced to who you may be working with for a long time early on. I’m Oscar, Founder and CEO at DFYNE. I’m looking for someone who’s going to help us take DFYNE governance, ethics, and compliance processes to the next level. The Head of Legal will be DFYNE’s senior legal authority, responsible for establishing the legal function, designing scalable frameworks, and providing strategic counsel across the business. You will ensure DFYNE operates with strong governance, robust risk management, and compliant processes, whilst enabling speed, innovation, and commercial success. This is a foundational leadership role with the mandate to build and lead a high performing Legal team as the company grows, supporting DFYNE’s operations across the UK and international markets. Key Responsibilities:

  • You will shape and deliver our entire legal strategy, creating the organisation’s first cohesive approach to governance, risk, and compliance.
  • You’ll design the overarching legal strategy development roadmap, advise the CEO and senior leaders, and ensure our legal foundations support DFYNE’s operations across the UK and international markets.
  • You will own and elevate all commercial and contractual activity, overseeing the full contract lifecycle management process and ensuring our agreements with suppliers, partners, and customers are robust, fair, and commercially sound.
  • This includes managing cross border contractual requirements, jurisdiction nuances, and international commercial standards.
  • You will lead DFYNE’s regulatory and compliance landscape, ensuring we meet all legal obligations across consumer, commercial, employment, and data protection law.
  • You’ll partner closely with People, Digital, and Operations to strengthen GDPR and data governance, while ensuring compliance with international data, consumer, and employment regulations across any regions DFYNE will operate in.
  • You will manage disputes and risk response with clarity and confidence, taking ownership of claims, pre-litigation matters, and any emerging legal risks.
  • You’ll also oversee external counsel management, ensuring we get the right specialist support when needed and maintain strong, cost-effective partnerships.
  • You will build and lead DFYNE’s first legal function, designing structure, hiring exceptional talent, and embedding modern legal operations across the business.
  • As DFYNE continues to grow, you’ll champion legal operational excellence by implementing frameworks that work across multiple jurisdictions and support global consistency.

Experience Needed:

  • You will be a qualified solicitor in the UK with 5+ years PQE.
  • A broad experience across commercial, corporate, regulatory, and data protection law is essential.
  • Experience working with or advising multi-jurisdictional matters, cross border contracts, or international compliance frameworks is highly desirable.
  • Experience in designing or improving legal processes, frameworks, or governance structure is desirable.
