Central York School District (CYSD) is looking for a part-time Cook/Cashier to join Central York Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and customer service, a passion for ensuring students have access to nutritious meals, and the ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. The Cook/Cashier will play a key role in meal preparation, cashiering, and fostering positive interactions with students and staff.

Job Summary: Assist with the preparation, serving and cleanup of the school breakfast and/or lunch program. Create an environment that produces a satisfying school experience as well as a professional image of the school while providing a well-balanced student breakfast and lunch program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food in accordance with established procedures and direction of the Head Cook.
  • Assist the Head Cook in estimating the quantities of food to students and staff.
  • Actively participate in the serving of food to students and staff.
  • Assist and participate in the necessary cleanup of all cafeteria-related areas.
  • Maintain and practice required standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Become knowledgeable about the overall operation to ensure continuity and consistency of service in the event of personnel absence.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of safe operation of all kitchen equipment.
  • Interact with students and staff in a courteous and positive manner.
  • Actively participate in activities designed to improve the school lunch program.
  • Perform other duties reasonably related to the Food Services function as assigned by the Head Cook, Principal and/or Food Service Director.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Knowledge in the food service industry with an understanding of nutrition, sanitation and food safety is preferred.
  • ServSafe preferred.
  • Cooking experience preferred.
  • General working knowledge of computers preferred.
  • Strong Math skills preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be highly structured and organized & have good communication skills.
  • Must have obtained (or will obtain) valid PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Criminal History Background clearances within the past twelve (12) months.

Hourly Rate: $14.40-$19.15
