About You

Are you passionate about health and fitness with a strong motivation to help others achieve their potential and build a successful career in fitness? You will have excellent communication skills, rapport-building ability, and be capable of managing conflict with empathy. Highly organized, with good planning and time-management skills, supported by IT proficiency, especially with online communication tools.

YMCA Fit delivers a wide range of fitness qualifications, and we are particularly interested in hearing from Tutors and Assessors qualified in Gym and Personal Training, capable of delivering:

  • Level 2 Gym Instructor
  • Level 3 Personal Training
  • Level 3 Diploma in Yoga
  • Level 3 Older Adult / Perinatal
  • Level 4 Sports Massage
  • Level 4 Nutrition

You will also need:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in the fitness industry
  • Flexibility to travel across regions to attend our centres across the UK
  • Teaching Qualification (PGCE/Cert in Education / L5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent)
  • Assessing qualification (L3 Assessing Vocational Related Achievement or equivalent)
  • Level 4 Internal Verifier qualification (V1 or equivalent) – desirable

About the Role

The YMCAfit Tutor/Assessor/IQA will deliver, assess, and quality assure engaging programs that motivate learners to progress and succeed. They will manage diverse learning opportunities from onboarding through to certification, teaching across various formats including remote, blended, and face-to-face, with travel to locations like London, Manchester, Bristol, Leicester, and Brighton as needed.

Safeguarding: This role involves contact with learners and regulated activity involving children. All staff are responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, per the Charity’s Safeguarding Policy available on the Central YMCA website.

Pre-employment checks include an enhanced DBS disclosure, teacher prohibition check, references, ID, and certificates. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and applicants must declare all convictions. Overseas experience exceeding three months in the past ten years requires criminal background checks or certificates of good conduct, in English or translated.
