Central Recruitment is working with an inclusive London-based organisation that provides homes, community and support for single homeless people. Our client is currently recruiting for a Young Persons Support Worker to work in the Haringey area, supporting young people with independent living, employment, tenancy management and access to education and training.
- 32 hours per week - 4 day working week
- Shifts: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30
- Same working days each week
- Temporary: minimum 4 weeks, with the possibility of extension
- £21.16 per hour (£18.06 per hour, with £3.10 holiday pay)
Please note: you will be required to work at the Head Office in Hackney and across the borough visiting service users in their homes, with visits to libraries, job centres etc. This role involves lone working.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of 10–15 clients, delivering regular keywork sessions and SMARTER support plans
- Complete risk and needs assessments, contribute to safeguarding, and work in a trauma-informed way
- Support budgeting, rent payments and arrears management with the Housing Team
- Assist clients with external agencies, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit
- Help clients settle into accommodation and become familiar with the local area
- Link clients with appropriate services
- Act as a key contact for partner agencies involved in the client’s support
- Assess and interview applicants to ensure suitability and understanding of shared living responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with occupancy agreements alongside the Housing Team
- Support clients with household management and independent living skills
- Conduct property inspections and address anti-social behaviour in line with policy
What we’re looking for:
- Experience supporting young people within housing, support or advice services
- Understanding of the challenges facing young and vulnerable homeless people
- Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment, particularly for young people
- Experience managing a caseload and completing needs, risk and support plans
- Able to work in a client-centred way and support progress in areas such as ETE and relationships
- Able to set goals and agree clear actions with clients
- Conflict management skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload
- Good written skills
Further requirements:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
