Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a part time Young Person Support Worker, to work in the Hackney area. The service provides support to young people related to independent living, employment, tenancy management and training/education. The successful candidate will be required to work 16 hours over 3 days per week, (ideally Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), between 9AM - 5:30PM. Please note; the candidate will need to work the same days each week. Temporary cover is required for minimum 2 weeks with the possibility of extension. The pay rate for this role is £18.06 per hour, with £3.10 holiday pay, totalling £21.16 per hour. Please note: you\'ll be required to work at the Head Office in Hackney and across the borough visiting service users in their homes, with visits to libraries, job centres etc. In this position, you will be expected to; * Hold a caseload of 10 - 15 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions, developing SMARTER support plans * Complete risk and needs assessments, contribute to safeguarding plans and be aware of and practice trauma informed working * Support young people to budget and pay rent and service charges. Support the Housing Team with arrears management and communication with the clients * Assist tenants to deal with other agencies, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit * Support clients to settle into their accommodation and become familiar with the local area * Ensure clients are linked into appropriate support services and sustain engagement with services * Act as a point of contact for other agencies working with the individual * Interview and assess applicants. In particular, ensure that prospective tenants and residents have a positive attitude towards sharing, realistic expectations and awareness of their own obligations towards their housemates and the organisation * Work closely with the Housing Team to ensure clients are complying with the terms of their occupancy agreements. * Ensure the accommodation is safe, comfortable and appropriate for the needs of its occupants * Support clients to manage their accommodation and provide coaching and assistance in household management and independent living skills * Carry out pre- and post- inspections of reported maintenance issues. Arrange for the procurement of furniture and other items where this is agreed * Carry out regular stock condition inspections, health & safety and service inspections including cleaning and gardening. Be aware of any antisocial behaviour affecting neighbours or our residents and deal with this as per policy Please note: this role involves lone working To apply for this role, you must have: * Experience working with young people in support, supported housing or advice services * Knowledge of the issues confronting young people and the needs of vulnerable homeless people in general * Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment, particularly regarding young people * Experience holding a caseload, carrying out needs and risk assessments and Support Plans * Ability to work in a client-centred way and support clients to make progress in key areas of their lives, such as ETE and developing healthy relationships * Ability to work with clients to develop outcomes, and actions to achieve these outcomes. * Ability to manage conflict * Ability to plan and organise own workload * Good written skills and the ability to structure written work clearly Further requirements: In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria: * Current valid right to work in the UK * Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise) * A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60) * Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process How to apply: If you feel that you fully meet the above outlined criteria for this role and would like apply for this post, please forward your CV for consideration. *Please note the outlined experience is the \'minimum\' first stage criteria, and we will therefore be unable to consider your application unless you are able to demonstrate a relevant work history in line with this position
