Central Recruitment is working with an organisation that provides care homes and supported living services for individuals with complex mental health needs, supporting them to fulfil their personal aspirations. Our client is currently recruiting for a Mental Health Keyworker to work in the Islington area at a CQC registered service that provides specialist support to those with mental health and forensic mental health needs.

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 3 shifts per week across Monday - Sunday. Shifts: from 08:00 - 20:30, requirement to work 1 weekend in every 3 weeks. Temporary: approx. 1-2 months. £17.66 per hour (£15.42 per hour, with £2.24 holiday pay).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold a caseload of residents with mental health and forensic mental health needs.
  • Carry out weekly key work sessions resulting in SMART support/care plans.
  • Complete risk assessments to identify and prioritise needs.
  • Utilise a recovery and trauma informed approach.
  • Support residents to develop independence and work towards move on.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to increase referrals.
  • Encourage participation in activities within the service and community.
  • Support residents with their medication.
  • Escort residents to appointments, activities and meetings in community.
  • Support residents with personal care and hygiene.
  • Support residents with budgeting and benefits applications.
  • Keep care notes and health and safety records up to date.
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment for staff, residents and visitors.
  • Work in partnership with external agencies.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience supporting clients with complex mental health needs.
  • Experience managing a caseload, conducting risk and needs assessments and support planning.
  • Experience and knowledge of statutory regulation and legislation linked to mental health.
  • Experience of safeguarding and social care.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and use own initiative.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with colleagues, residents and other professionals.
  • Good standard of IT knowledge, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Further Requirements:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK.
  • Minimum 12 months' of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise).
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60).
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process.
