Job Description

Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for four Housing Support Workers, to work in the Lambeth area. The service provides support to young people to help them secure a place on the housing register or find appropriate rental properties which enable them to regain their independence.\\n\\nThe successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday – Sunday on a rolling rota basis, covering early (8AM – 4PM) and late (2PM – 10PM) shifts. Temporary cover is required for approximately 3 months.

The pay rate for this role is Β£13.94 per hour, with Β£2.03 holiday pay, totalling Β£15.97 per hour.\\n\\nIn this position, you will be required to:\\n\\n * Hold a caseload of 2-3 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in Support Plans\\n\\n * Carry out needs and risk assessments, provide support, carry out reviews and welfare checks\\n\\n * Promote the integration of the tenant into the local community and provide opportunities so they can develop skills and have access to a wide range of experiences\\n\\n * Support young people to access counselling, mental health support, or drug and alcohol services\\n\\n * Involve the tenant in everyday household tasks where possible and help to develop the skills needed to achieve this. Tasks include gardening, shopping, cleaning, cooking and all other normal day to day tasks\\n\\n * Liaise with other external agencies e.g. Benefits, Health professionals/agencies, local authorities\\n\\n * Maintain accurate and appropriate records relating to all aspects of the tenants home\\n\\n * Participate in managing the income and expenditure of the house including residents' finances and payment of bills\\n\\n * Carry out core housing management tasks including void inspections, sign-ups, move-in support and liaison with utilities and Housing Benefit, low level arrears management and estate/health and safety inspections\\n\\n * Support to maintain accommodation appropriately including reporting and following up maintenance issues\\n\\nTo apply for this role, you must have:\\n\\n * Experience of providing support to young people with complex needs in the community or within a supported living environment\\n\\n * Experience providing good outcomes for young people ensuring successful move on from the service\\n\\n * Up to date knowledge of welfare benefits\\n\\n * Able to communicate effectively with customers, staff, external agencies and stakeholders\\n\\n * Understanding of housing support needs of young people and the benefits of a flexible, outcome focussed and personalised support service whilst supporting people to help themselves\\n\\n * Knowledge of health and safety issues relating to young people and knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children local policies, protocols and good practice\\n\\n * Effective at using Microsoft Office along with having comprehensive IT skills and ability to maintain electronic records, with attention to detail\\n\\n * Ability to work as part of a team\\n\\n * Have an approachable manner and the resilience to cope with a busy, challenging and emotive job\\n\\nCandidates must confirm their interest as soon as possible, with interviews scheduled shortly after and the appointed candidate expected to start as soon as possible\\n\\nFurther requirements:\\n\\nIn order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:\\n\\n * Current valid right to work in the UK\\n\\n * Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)\\n\\n * A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of Β£60)\\n\\n * Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process\\n\\nHow to apply:\\n\\nIf you feel that you fully meet the above outlined criteria for this role and would like apply for this post, please forward your CV for consideration.\\n\\n*Please note the outlined experience is the 'minimum' first stage criteria, and we will therefore be unable to consider your application unless you are able to demonstrate a relevant work history in line with this position
