Central Recruitment is working with a prominent national homelessness charity, whose work includes supporting and accommodating young people. Our client is currently recruiting for three Progression Coaches (Waking Nights) to work in the Durham area at a service that provides supported accommodation for young people (aged 18+) to help them move on to their own independent accommodation.

  • 37.5 hours per week (average)
  • Monday - Sunday on a two week rolling rota of waking night shifts
  • Shifts: 21:30 - 08:00 (requirement to work every other weekend)
  • Temporary: approximately 3 months
  • £14.24 per hour (£12.71 per hour, with £1.53 holiday pay)

Key responsibilities:
  • Conduct welfare checks on all clients
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients, following safeguarding and emergency procedures
  • Provide personalised, flexible support, encouraging client involvement and participation
  • Collaborate with external agencies adhering to data protection and information sharing protocols
  • Carry out cleaning duties
  • Cover reception, including answering phone calls
  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming environment, and prepare accommodation for new clients
  • Maintain clear, accurate records
  • Manage the security of the building
What we’re looking for:
  • Understanding of the needs of people facing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance misuse, or care system involvement
  • Experience conducting welfare checks
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and respond calmly in crisis situations
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work collaboratively
Further requirements:
  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
