Central Recruitment is working with a respected organisation that provides high-quality housing and support services to some of London’s most vulnerable individuals. Our client is currently recruiting for a Supported Housing Officer to work at an all-male hostel in the Camden area. The service provides temporary accommodation and support for single homeless men with a broad range of support needs, including substance misuse, mental ill-health and those under MAPPA.
- 35 hours per week
- Monday - Sunday on a rota basis with the requirement to work 1 weekend a month
- 09:00 - 16:00 and 12:00 - 20:00
- Temporary: approx. 6 months with the possibility of transferring to permanent
- £19.29 per hour (£16.84 per hour, with £2.45 holiday pay)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a caseload of 8-9 clients and deliver regular key work sessions
- Complete risk/needs assessments and support plans
- Assess referrals in line with policies and procedures
- Provide a welcoming and efficient reception service
- Maintain building security and conduct regular house rounds
- Arrange lettings and explain occupancy agreements to new residents
- Ensure rooms are clean and ready prior to new lettings
- Support residents to maximise outcomes and sustain accommodation
- Refer residents to appropriate internal and external services
- Provide welfare rights advice and liaise with the benefits agency and local authority
- Assess and support residents with resettlement plans
- Manage arrears and occupancy breaches in line with procedures
- Report maintenance issues and arrange emergency repairs
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Experience supporting clients facing homelessness, mental health, substance use and MAPPA
- Experience managing a caseload and completing risk/needs assessments
- Experience handling complex situations involving vulnerable adults
- Ability to liaise effectively with external agencies and service providers
- Experience delivering housing-related support to vulnerable clients
- IT skills including data entry, databases and Microsoft Outlook
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
