About the Role
The successful candidate will play a leading clinical role in delivering a high-quality NHS and private orthodontic service. Responsibilities will include referral triage, orthodontic consultations, assessments, treatment planning, prescribing and the provision of specialist-led treatment for NHS and private patients. You will work closely with orthodontic therapists, dental nurses, referring clinicians and the wider management team to ensure an efficient, collaborative and patient-focused service. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the clinical service, support team development and help maintain a positive, high-performing clinical culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking orthodontic consultations, assessments and treatment planning.
- Providing high-quality NHS and private orthodontic treatment.
- Triage and assessment of incoming orthodontic referrals.
- Prescribing, supervising and reviewing treatment delegated to orthodontic therapists.
- Maintaining accurate, comprehensive and contemporaneous clinical records.
- Supporting clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Working collaboratively with referring dentists and other healthcare professionals.
- Supporting the development and growth of the private orthodontic service.
- Providing clinical leadership, mentoring and guidance to the wider clinical team where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
- Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
- Inclusion on the GDC Specialist List in Orthodontics and/or recognised Consultant status.
- Appropriate professional indemnity.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- NHS performer-list inclusion.
- Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
- A strong commitment to clinical excellence, teamwork and ongoing professional development.
