The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.
Gorton Medical Centre has more than one role available, this is a full time role. The practice requires rotational cover between 8.00 - 18:30.
It is the responsibility of each receptionist/administrator to assist in the smooth running of the Practice in general, and the reception area in particular, and to project a positive and friendly image to our patients and other professionals who may contact us either in person or via the telephone.
Main duties of the job include:
- Experience of speaking to the public/patients over the telephone
- Experience of working in a public reception environment
- Experience of EMIS WEB an advantage
- Experience of Microsoft Office Software
- Experience of dealing with the public/patients
- Excellent keyboard and computer skills
Job responsibilities include:
- Greeting and booking in patients for surgeries and clinics.
- Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously.
- The receiving and recording of telephone messages taking appropriate action.
- Making appointments on EMIS Web, by processing appointment requests for today, future appointments from patients in person and on the telephone.
- Dealing with all telephone queries/requests from patients, and acting as liaison with the clinicians as necessary.
- Pulling and filing medical records as necessary.
- Processing repeat prescriptions and filing for collection.
- Taking home visit requests.
- Receiving specimens from patients ensuring all their details have been recorded whilst following Health & Safety policy.
- To have a thorough knowledge of all practice policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative support for clinical staff.
- Filing patient records and correspondence when necessary.
- Opening and distribution of practice post.
- Registering new patients following the Registration Protocol.
- Scanning of documents onto the medical system.
- Changing details on the clinical system e.g. patient addresses, telephone numbers etc.
- Cover for other Reception team members may be required for sickness and annual leave.

Person Specification: Experience of working in a public reception environment, experience of speaking to the public/patients over the telephone, experience of dealing with the public/patients face to face, experience of EMIS WEB (clinical system), experience of Microsoft Office software, experience of working in primary care, experience of working in a GP practice.
