Job Overview
CLCH delivers the Stroke and General community in-patient rehabilitation service for Barnet, offering step-down and non-weight-bearing beds across wards. These units provide community-based rehabilitation supporting patients' recovery with active therapy programs. Assessments for patients who are medically optimized but require further evaluation outside the acute setting are also conducted where necessary. The service operates 24/7 with nurses always present and doctors/therapists available during core hours.
Main Duties of the Job
- The Specialty Doctor will work within a multidisciplinary team, undertaking routine tasks under supervision of senior doctors, including managing medical care, reviewing patients, and responding to medical deterioration.
- Responsibilities include managing medical care of referred patients, conducting ward reviews, managing deteriorations, and supporting discharge planning.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
- Manage medical care for rehabilitation patients, with consultant reviews twice weekly.
- Respond to medical deterioration and support appropriate transfer or management.
- Work proactively to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitate discharges.
Person Specification
Education/Qualification
- GMC registered with a license to practice.
- Completed Foundation Training (FY1 and FY2).
- Two years post-Foundation Training experience.
- Up-to-date Resuscitation and Safeguarding Training.
- Specialty Doctor training in relevant areas (e.g., Elderly Care, Rehabilitation Medicine).
- MRCP, DGM, or equivalent.
Experience
- At least two years' experience as a doctor in a rehabilitation setting.
- NHS experience.
- Experience working with frail patients.
- Experience in community hospitals or rehabilitation services is an asset.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of GMC 'Duties of a Doctor'.
- Experience with SystmOne and ICE systems.
