Single Point of Access (SPA) is a service that is vital to the delivery of adult community health care for housebound patients across South and West Hertfordshire. In this role, you will:
- Manage electronic referrals from a wide range of healthcare professionals
- Handle patient telephone enquiries across multiple services
- Use an advanced electronic patient record system to support efficient service delivery
You will be joining a collaborative and supportive team made up of administrators with a range of experience. We are proud of our inclusive culture and commitment to continuous development. Flexible working is an essential part of this role, including providing cover for central booking and reception services in line with service needs. The post holder will also be expected to work evenings where required. The successful candidate will maintain strict confidentiality at all times, recognising the sensitive nature of the service. They will use their initiative to manage day-to-day tasks effectively and respond to routine queries and challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Process new referrals in line with local Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs)
- Book clinics and appointments, managing cancellations and amendments promptly
- Maintain health records as required in accordance with local SOPs
- Accurately enter and retrieve patient information using electronic patient record systems
- Provide accurate confirmation of appointments to patients
- Maintain the integrity of patient data on electronic patient records, including the creation and update of records
- Work closely with relevant departments to ensure that notes are prepared and available and that necessary clinical information has been obtained in time for clinics, where appropriate
- Work with telephonic equipment and computer software used to support the Single Point of Access service

Working Pattern: This is a 7-day service operating from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Shifts are scheduled across these hours, including weekends and Bank Holidays, as the service runs 365 days a year.
