An opportunity has arisen for experienced and motivated Nursery Nurses to join Central London Community Healthcare, working with the Health Visiting Team in the Inner London Borough of Westminster. This is a chance to play a meaningful role in supporting children and families, contributing to the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and helping shape positive futures across our diverse communities. We have one full-time vacancy based at Bessborough Family Hub, Pimlico, and one part-time (0.6FTE) vacancy based at Queen's Park Children's Centre, Queen's Park.

Main duties of the job:

  • Participate in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, working across a range of community settings, including family homes.
  • Act as a key member of the 0-19 team, providing efficient, high-quality clinical support within the Health Visiting service.
  • Assist with, or carry out, delegated clinical interventions as part of the Healthy Child Programme, working in partnership with Health Visitors to ensure safe, consistent and compassionate care.
  • Offer parents and carers evidence-based advice on positive parenting skills, including:
    • Understanding and supporting child behaviour
    • Weaning and nutrition
    • Play and early stimulation
    • Speech and language development
    • Sleep routines and sleep management
    • Toilet training
  • Engage with families in an inclusive, respectful and empowering way, recognising and valuing the diverse needs of the local community.
  • Demonstrate accountability in all aspects of practice, maintaining high standards and contributing to a positive team culture.

Person Specification:

Education/Qualification:

  • N.N.E.B./ BTEC Diploma in Child Care or NVQ in Child Care level 3 or equivalent
  • Educated to Diploma level in a health-related subject.

Experience:

  • Experience of working with children and families in a formal health, educational or social care setting
  • Evidence of ongoing training in Early Years
  • Experience of working as a team member and on own
  • Experience of leading group work
  • Experience of working in the NHS

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Basic skills in numeracy and literacy
  • IT skills including Word, Excel.
  • Ability to assess a situation, identifying any risk or potential problem and act appropriately.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children
  • Knowledge of normal child development, parenting skills and the importance of play.
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Able to make and record observations of children's behaviour and development
  • Ability to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and put them into practice
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and motivated, uses own initiative
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality
  • Basic understanding of community health care services
  • Teaching skills (children, parents)

Key Attributes:

  • Must be able to travel across Borough using any method of transport.
  • Must be able to negotiate stairs and carry equipment required for the role.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£33,094 to £36,195 a year per annum, inclusive of HCAS.
