We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Cardiology Specialist Practitioner to join our Brent and Harrow Specialist Care service on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work at an advanced level within a specialist cardiology service, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care with a high degree of professional autonomy.

In this role, you will use your expert clinical knowledge and advanced skills in assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment to manage patients within an agreed scope of practice. You will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based cardiology care, supporting positive outcomes for patients across the service. As a senior clinician, you will act as an advanced diagnostic and clinical decision maker within the cardiology service, working collaboratively with non-medical consultants and medical colleagues to support high-quality decision-making, service delivery, and ongoing development of specialist care.

This role is ideal for a practitioner who is passionate about cardiology, confident in advanced practice, and motivated to make a meaningful impact within a specialist community service. The post holder will lead and promote evidence-based practice across the cardiology pathway, actively contributing to research, service improvement initiatives, quality improvement collaboratives, and clinical audit within the service and across the Trust.

Responsibilities

The post holder will support the continuous development of clinical practice and contribute to improving patient outcomes through innovation and evaluation. The post holder will design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality clinical, practical, and theory-based education and training for a range of staff groups, including nurses, Allied Health Professionals, and pharmacists. This will include both internal delivery across Trust divisions and external delivery where required, supporting workforce development and shared learning.

Working flexibly and innovatively, the post holder will adapt to the demands of a rapidly evolving specialty and play a key role in the operational and strategic development of the cardiology service, contributing to service redesign, pathway development, and future planning. The role will comprise a minimum of 50% and a maximum of 80% direct clinical practice, with the remaining time distributed across the other three pillars of advanced practice in line with service, pathway, and Trust priorities.
