The post holder will be instrumental in promoting the success of the Occupational Health Service, ensuring that clients receive a quality service based on the principles of clinical governance. The primary outcome is that the highest standards of occupational health are achieved, and the post holder will maximise the use of resources and development opportunities to their fullest potential. They will demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise in Occupational Health as a clinician, educator, advisor, and advocate, empowering staff and acting as a change agent and role model to ensure good working relationships. The underlying aim of this role is to provide integrated, client‑centred care of a high quality that promotes the optimum level of health and wellbeing for employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote the success of the Occupational Health Service by ensuring clients receive high‑quality service based on clinical governance principles.
  • Achieve the highest standards of occupational health, maximising resources and development opportunities.
  • Demonstrate specialist clinical, educational, advisory, and advocacy expertise, empowering staff and modelling good practice.
  • Provide integrated client‑centred care that promotes optimum health and wellbeing for employees.
  • Deliver direct clinical care, including workplace assessments, supervision of health‑surveillance programmes, support and clearance for staff with BBVs, case conferences, preparation of reports, and policy advice to managers.
  • Support programme activities such as administration, teaching nursing staff and OH nursing advisors, attendance at committees and meetings, managerial activity, audit, and continuing professional development.
  • Formulate, communicate, and implement policy, procedures, and practices related to occupational health.
  • Act as a liaison and communicator with stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and information flow.
