Central Learning Partnership Trust is a dynamic and thriving Multi‑Academy Trust, proudly encompassing 16 schools across all phases, both mainstream and special, located in the vibrant communities of Wolverhampton, Rotherham, and Worcestershire.
Location: All schools in the Trust / hybrid working
Salary: CLPT 24 - CLPT 29 (FTE £35,412 - £39,862) pro rata
Contract: 20 hours per week, term time only

About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and knowledgeable Governance Professional to support our Multi Academy Trust. This key strategic role ensures that governance across the Trust is effective, compliant and aligned with statutory and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair and Chief Officers, providing expert advice on governance, constitutional and procedural matters, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Trust’s governance structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Clerk all of the Trust and Local Governing Body meetings, including 4 Trust Board meetings, 6 Trust Committee meetings, 7 Executive Board meetings and 30 Local Governing Body/Local Executive Governing Body meetings across the 16 schools in an academic year.
- Oversee all aspects of governance effectiveness and compliance across the Trust, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements, relevant legislation, funding agreements and regulatory frameworks.
- Manage governance documentation, ensuring accuracy, version control and accessibility.
- Provide independent, high‑quality advice to the Directors on governance, legal and procedural matters; keep Directors informed of changes in legislation and best practice.
- Support the Directors in fulfilling strategic responsibilities and maintaining strong accountability.
- Coordinate the annual cycle of meetings, including agenda preparation and distribution of papers.
- Attend meetings and produce accurate, timely minutes that clearly record challenges, decisions and actions.
- Monitor and follow up outstanding actions to ensure effective implementation.
- Ensure governance information published on the Trust website meets statutory expectations.
- Support recruitment, induction and training of Directors, Members and Governors; contribute to governance reviews, skills audits and succession planning.
- Promote high standards of governance practice across all schools within the Trust.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience in a governance, clerking or compliance role (education sector desirable).
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and apply governance legislation and guidance.
- Strong written communication skills, including minute‑taking and report writing.
- Ability to work independently whilst building effective working relationships.
- High level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
Desirable
- Knowledge of academy trust governance frameworks and DfE guidance.
- Understanding of company and charity law as it relates to academy trusts.
