Contract Type: Visiting Lecturer Worker Contract

We are currently looking to expand our bank of Visiting Lecturers to join our academic team in our located Hull campus based at The University of Hull, law school.

We are interested in hearing from qualified Solicitors and/or Barristers.

As a Visiting Lecturer, you will work for the University of Law at our Hull Campus on an hourly rate basis on a worker contract. Reporting to our Academic Manager, you will be providing tuition across the University of Law SQE (Solicitor Qualifying Exam) and conversion (PGDL/MAL) course portfolio.

This position suits individuals who wish to engage in academia alongside other professional or personal commitments, offering flexible scheduling and limited contact hours.

You will enjoy being challenged (by students and course content in equal measure) and be able to adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery. You will be eager to share your expertise, and the role will include marking in-course assignments and final assessments, as well as supporting students and dealing with queries.

As a Visiting Lecturer you will:

  • Teach and assess across The University of Law SQE and conversion courses. This will include teaching and assessing students across a range of written and presentation skills and giving individual feedback on students’ performances.

We are looking for individuals who are/have:

  • A qualified Solicitor and/or Barrister with practice experience
  • Organised and can prioritise their own workload
  • Confident and articulate presentation skills
  • Punctual, good time management and prioritisation of workload
  • Ability to work independently for short periods and as part of a team, whilst recognising when advice / input needs to be sought
