Following continued growth and a number of significant contract awards, we are supporting a leading engineering and technology organisation as they expand their Programme Management function. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams within defence, aerospace, electronics, manufacturing or other highly regulated technical environments. You'll play a key role in delivering complex engineering programmes, working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to guide projects from concept and development through to manufacture, qualification and customer delivery. Working alongside RF, Electronic, Mechanical, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering teams, you will help deliver innovative products used within mission-critical and technically demanding applications.
Role Description
Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of multiple engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in line with customer requirements. You will coordinate activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality and Commercial teams, maintaining momentum, managing risk and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. This position offers significant exposure to technically challenging defence and technology programmes, providing an excellent platform for career development within a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering projects through the full product lifecycle, from initiation through to customer delivery.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones and resource requirements.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality and Commercial functions.
- Deliver projects to agreed scope, cost, quality and timescale targets.
- Manage project risks, issues and dependencies, implementing effective mitigation plans.
- Support programme governance activities, customer reviews and project reporting.
- Act as a key interface between customers and internal delivery teams.
- Monitor project performance, forecasting and budgetary requirements.
- Support NPI and product development activities where required.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure clear communication and effective collaboration across all project teams.
Essential Requirements
- Proven Project Management experience within defence, aerospace, electronics, manufacturing or another technically complex engineering environment.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and supporting product development programmes.
- Strong project planning, scheduling and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing project risks, budgets, resources and delivery milestones.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira or similar.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with engineers, customers and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive and organised approach with the ability to drive projects through to successful completion.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
- APMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent Project Management qualification.
- Experience delivering projects for defence, aerospace, space or national security customers.
- Experience within electronics, RF, microwave, telecommunications or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) and engineering product development lifecycles.
- Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance.
