An established and successful UK housebuilder is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team in the North East. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of multiple residential developments, working within a well-structured commercial team that values collaboration, career development and commercial excellence.

The Role

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of one or more housing developments, ensuring projects are delivered within budget while maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement and management of subcontract packages
  • Preparation and management of subcontract orders and accounts
  • Reconciliation of material procurement costs
  • Production and analysis of monthly cost reports and forecasts
  • Liaison with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate project reporting
  • Cost control and budget management across live developments
  • Supporting and mentoring Assistant Quantity Surveyors and junior team members
  • Ensuring commercial procedures and reporting deadlines are achieved

About You

To be considered, you will have:

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within house building or the wider construction sector
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness
  • Experience managing project costs, valuations and reporting processes
  • The ability to work to strict deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive and organised approach to work
  • Experience using commercial reporting systems would be advantageous
