An advanced technology manufacturer is seeking NPI Engineers at all levels to support the launch of a new, state-of-the-art production facility in Sedgefield. This role offers the opportunity to apply manufacturing expertise to the introduction of cutting-edge RF and mmWave products, supporting the transition from development and prototype stages into stable, scalable volume production. The organisation is particularly interested in individuals with experience in electronics, Tier-1 automotive, or other high-reliability and high-precision manufacturing environments. The Role

The NPI Engineer will lead the successful introduction of new RF and microwave products into manufacturing. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams—spanning RF design, mechanical engineering, test, quality and operations—the role is responsible for coordinating pilot builds, validating processes, and ensuring full manufacturing readiness.

Technical Scope

The role will involve working across a range of specialist technologies and manufacturing disciplines, including:

  • RF and microwave module manufacturing
  • Semiconductor and RF electronics assembly
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) and industrialisation
  • Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Process validation and readiness
  • Statistical process control (SPC) and capability analysis
  • Root-cause and structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, DMAIC, FMEA)
  • Process flows, PFMEA and Control Plans

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the introduction of new RF and microwave products into production
  • Deliver NPI plans from prototype stages through to full production release
  • Coordinate pilot builds and production readiness reviews
  • Drive DFM/DFA activities to improve manufacturability
  • Define tooling, fixturing and automation needs
  • Develop process flows, control plans and manufacturing documentation
  • Support early-stage builds and production ramp-up
  • Analyse production data to enhance yield and efficiency
  • Conduct structured root-cause investigations
  • Work collaboratively with design, quality and operations teams

About You

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams. Applications are welcomed from individuals with:

  • Degree/HND in Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in high-precision environments such as automotive, electronics, or power electronics
  • Proven track record of transitioning products from development to production
  • Experience with structured problem-solving (8D, DMAIC, FMEA)
  • Understanding of process flows, PFMEA and control plans
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of SPC and data analysis
  • Background in high-precision electronics or semiconductor manufacturing
  • Understanding of RF manufacturing
  • Experience within ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 environments
