A leading heavy industrial manufacturing site producing large scale steel plate products is seeking a Crane Maintenance Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of its lifting equipment. This environment relies heavily on overhead cranes and specialist handling systems to move and process substantial steel sections, making the role essential to maintaining continuous production.

You will play a key part in ensuring that lifting assets remain safe, compliant and fully operational, supporting strong performance in quality, safety and output.
As Crane Maintenance Technician, you will complete a blend of preventative and reactive maintenance, ensuring that cranes and lifting equipment operate safely and consistently. You will work closely with production teams, engineering colleagues and external contractors to support efficient and reliable operations across the site. This position is central to maintaining regulatory compliance, improving maintenance routines and upholding the highest standards of safety.
Key Responsibilities- Complete planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on cranes and lifting equipment
- Carry out statutory inspections, scheduled tests and routine servicing
- Manage maintenance schedules and outstanding tasks and prioritise work effectively
- Review and enhance maintenance routines and contribute improvement ideas
- Maintain accurate records that meet all legal requirements including LOLER
- Communicate clearly with shift engineers, technicians and management
- Build constructive working relationships with production teams to coordinate equipment access
- Oversee contractor activity and ensure work meets required standards
- Complete effective handovers between shifts
- Use CMMS Pirana to review, update, sign off and raise maintenance tasks
- Maintain accurate stores information during shifts
- Support the training and development of colleagues as required
- Adhere to all Health and Safety, environmental and site standards
- Carry out plant checks and assist with risk assessments
- Time served engineer with a recognised engineering qualification
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with colleagues and contractors
- Ability to work under pressure while managing and prioritising workload
- Able to work independently with strong motivation and attention to detail
- Competent IT skills including MS Office
- Comfortable working at height
- Willing to work overtime including weekends when required
- Electrical maintenance experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience working with cranes or lifting equipment
- Completion of the LEEA Foundation Course
