An established and growing business in the Darlington area is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee its transport operation. This role requires someone who is confident in managing compliance, operational planning and people while supporting ongoing business development and meeting customer expectations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing daily transport planning and logistics activity
  • Ensuring full compliance with transport legislation
  • Leading and supporting drivers and transport staff
  • Overseeing fleet management, maintenance and vehicle standards
  • Monitoring costs, fuel use and operational efficiency
  • Keeping up to date with changes in transport regulations
  • Maintaining service levels, delivery performance and operational quality

Compliance & Record Management

  • Ensuring tachograph calibrations are current and correctly displayed
  • Downloading and securely storing vehicle tachograph data (every 90 days) and driver card data (every 28 days)
  • Retaining drivers’ hours records for a minimum of 12 months
  • Retaining working time records for at least 24 months

Operator Licence Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all vehicles are correctly listed on the operator licence
  • Keeping vehicle information accurate on the Vehicle Operator Licensing system
  • Ensuring vehicles remain secure and protected from unauthorised use
  • Checking operator licence discs are current and displayed correctly
  • Maintaining valid insurance certification for all vehicles
  • Ensuring drivers hold the correct documentation, including Driving Licence and CPC
