The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join a well-established and growing organisation in Middlesbrough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional with a background in manufacturing or wholesale environments to play a key role in supporting supply chain operations and driving commercial performance. This is a dynamic position that offers the chance to work closely with suppliers, manage raw material sourcing, and contribute to continuous improvement within purchasing and supply chain processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure raw materials and components in line with production and operational requirements
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure best value
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams including supply chain, production, and logistics to ensure timely availability of materials
  • Manage stock levels and inventory flow to support operational efficiency and minimise excess or shortages
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate data and timely delivery tracking
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and audits, ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance standards are met
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain functions
  • Resolve supply issues proactively to avoid disruption to production schedules
  • Analyse purchasing data and generate reports to support decision-making and forecasting

About You

  • Proven experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within manufacturing or wholesale environments (essential)
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Good understanding of supply chain processes and inventory management
  • Commercially astute with the ability to identify cost efficiencies
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment
