We are seeking a highly skilled Costing Engineer to join our team in Cramlington. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing request for quotes (RFQs), engineering and manufacturing planning, simulation, and proficiency in CAD software. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate cost estimation, efficient planning, and effective use of resources to optimize manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation:
    – Analyze and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
    – Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand project requirements and constraints.
    – Prepare and submit RFQs to suppliers and evaluate their responses for cost-effectiveness and compliance with project specifications.
  • Manufacturing Planning:
    – Develop and implement manufacturing plans to ensure efficient use of resources and timely project completion.
    – Coordinate with production, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure alignment with project schedules and budgets.
    – Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to stay within budget and meet deadlines.
  • Simulation and Analysis:
    – Use simulation software to model manufacturing processes and identify potential areas for improvement.
    – Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to support decision-making.
    – Analyse data from simulations to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
  • CAD Software Proficiency:
    – Utilize CAD software to create and modify engineering drawings and models.
    – Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and project specifications.
    – Collaborate with design engineers to develop cost-effective and manufacturable solutions.
  • Supplier and Vendor Management:
    – Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
    – Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
    – Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure continuous improvement and cost savings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Costing Engineer or similar role in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Experience with manufacturing planning and simulation software.
