An established and growing specialist manufacturer is seeking a technically driven Process Engineer, Senior Process Engineer or aspiring Technical Manager to join its leadership team and play a key role in the future development of the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer looking to progress into a broader Technical Management role, taking ownership of Technical, Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) systems, engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

The Role

Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will provide both strategic and hands-on technical leadership across manufacturing operations, quality management, engineering projects and compliance activities.

The role requires a strong technical and engineering background with responsibility for managing and developing the site's integrated management systems, supporting capital investment projects, driving operational improvements and acting as the site's technical authority.

This position would suit a technically capable engineer from a heavy engineering, fabrication, process manufacturing, industrial or specialist manufacturing environment who is looking to combine practical engineering knowledge with quality, compliance and leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and continually improve the site's Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits, customer audits and certification assessments.
  • Act as the site's technical authority across manufacturing operations.
  • Support and improve production processes through engineering-led continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead technical investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action programmes.
  • Provide technical support across Mechanical and Electrical engineering activities.
  • Manage engineering projects, including CAPEX investment projects , equipment upgrades and site improvement initiatives.
  • Support maintenance teams with equipment reliability, performance improvement and engineering problem-solving activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Commercial and Senior Leadership teams.
  • Drive QHSE performance, compliance and best practice throughout the organisation.
  • Manage technical documentation, specifications, procedures and engineering standards.
  • Support new product introduction, process optimisation and innovation projects.
  • Develop and mentor technical, quality and engineering personnel.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers, suppliers and external stakeholders.

About the Candidate

Applicants should possess:

  • Experience as a Process Engineer, Senior Process Engineer, Technical Engineer, Quality Engineer, Technical Manager or Engineering Manager within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical and engineering background with practical knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles.
  • Experience managing or supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience within heavy engineering, fabrication, specialist manufacturing, process manufacturing or industrial production environments.
  • Proven experience delivering engineering improvement projects and CAPEX programmes.
  • Knowledge of maintenance strategies, equipment reliability and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of QHSE requirements and compliance obligations.
  • Experience leading audits, investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ambition to progress into a senior technical leadership role.

Desirable Experience

  • Degree, HND or HNC in Engineering, Manufacturing, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Lead Auditor qualification.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent HSE qualification.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience.
  • Experience within batch process, heavy engineering or specialist manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of CNC manufacturing processes.
