Central Employment are delighted to be working in partnership with one of the North East's most established digital, design and marketing agencies, as they strengthen their digital performance function, hiring a client-facing SEO Strategist, focusing on technical, onsite, content optimisation and client growth. County Durham based, hybrid working, 3 days in office £28,000-£35,000 DOE + benefits.
SEO Strategist profile: You'll work closely with the wider digital, content, design and development teams to ensure SEO is considered across every stage of a client's digital activity, from website builds and migrations to ongoing content and campaign planning. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping organic growth for clients while continuing to develop your skills across technical SEO, analytics, content strategy and performance reporting.
SEO Strategist responsibilities:
- Develop and manage SEO strategies for a range of client accounts.
- Carry out keyword research and identify opportunities to improve search visibility.
- Analyse competitor activity and search trends to inform recommendations.
- Support content planning with SEO-led insight and topic opportunities.
- Make clear, actionable recommendations to improve organic rankings, traffic and conversions.
- Conduct regular technical SEO audits across client websites.
- Identify and resolve crawlability, indexation, sitemap and site performance issues.
- Support improvements to Core Web Vitals, mobile usability and overall site speed.
- Review site structure, internal linking and URL architecture.
- Work closely with developers to ensure technical SEO recommendations are implemented effectively.
- Support website launches, redirects and migration checks from an SEO perspective.
- Work collaboratively with our content manager to optimise metadata, headings, internal links and on-page content based on SEO best practice.
- Review and improve existing website content to support rankings and user experience.
- Provide SEO guidance for new landing pages, blogs and service pages.
- Use search intent to guide content structure and recommendations.
- Ensure content is aligned with SEO goals while remaining useful and accessible for users.
- Monitor key SEO KPIs including organic traffic, rankings, conversions, engagement and technical health.
- Use GA4, Google Search Console and other SEO tools to track performance.
- Build reports and dashboards to present results and opportunities clearly.
- Translate data into practical recommendations for clients and internal teams.
- Identify issues, trends and opportunities through regular performance analysis.
- Work closely with clients to understand their goals, services, audiences and commercial priorities.
- Support digital campaign planning with SEO insight and organic search data.
- Present SEO findings and recommendations in a clear, client-friendly way.
- Keep up to date with search algorithm changes, industry updates and SEO best practice to proactively recommend new ideas to clients.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
- 2-4 years' hands-on SEO experience, ideally in an agency or multi-client environment.
- Strong understanding of technical SEO, on-page SEO and content optimisation.
- Working knowledge of GA4, Google Search Console and Google Tag Manager.
- Confidence using SEO tools such as SE Ranking, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confident working with internal teams, including content, design and development.
