A leading food manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Night Shift Hygiene Manager to oversee all hygiene and sanitation activities within their fast-paced production environment. This is a key position responsible for ensuring the site operates to the highest food safety, microbiological, and hygiene standards while leading a dedicated night shift hygiene team.
The Role
Working 10pm–6am on a permanent night shift, the Hygiene Manager will take ownership of nightly cleaning operations across all production areas. They will design and implement cleaning rotas, manage deep cleans, ensure compliance to BRCGS and retailer standards, and maintain a safe, hygienic environment ready for production start-up each day. This role also carries responsibility for environmental monitoring, swabbing, microbiological verification, and the effective control of hygiene chemicals, PPE, and stock.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading night shift hygiene operations across the manufacturing site
- Creating and managing detailed hygiene and cleaning rotas
- Conducting and overseeing microbiological and environmental swabbing
- Managing chemical stock, usage, cost control, and supplier relationships
- Ensuring full compliance with BRCGS, HACCP, COSHH, and food safety standards
- Maintaining hygiene documentation, SOPs, and audit readiness
- Supervising the hygiene team, delivering training, and supporting development
- Ensuring correct PPE usage and maintaining stock levels
About You
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in a Hygiene Manager or Senior Hygiene Supervisor role within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment. They will be confident in microbiology, environmental monitoring, and chemical management, and capable of leading a team during night operations.
