An established manufacturing site in Scarborough is seeking an experienced Maintenance Co-ordinator to take ownership of planned, reactive and continuous-improvement-driven maintenance across production equipment, utilities and site infrastructure. The role acts as the central co-ordination point between production, internal maintenance resources, specialist contractors and corporate functions, ensuring equipment reliability, safety, regulatory compliance and sustainable site performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate maintenance activities across multiple rolling mill production lines, including power presses and material-feeding equipment.
  • Maintain turret press sections incorporating forming presses and spot-welding equipment.
  • Support servo-driven, coil-fed punching lines and associated automation.
  • Maintain clinching and joining equipment.
  • Support manual fabrication processes including welding, grinding and conventional fabrication.
  • Co-ordinate maintenance of a galvanising plant, including a 70-tonne zinc kettle, extraction systems and overhead gantry/hoist equipment.
  • Maintain and support tool room equipment including 3-axis milling machines, lathes and surface grinders.
  • Plan and manage preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Manage site utilities including 415V electrical systems, compressed air and hydraulics.
  • Maintain factory buildings, infrastructure and surrounding external areas.

People Management & Mentoring

  • Direct line management of a small maintenance team.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, task allocation and performance management.
  • Actively mentor and develop team members, supporting skills development and succession planning.
  • Promote safe working practices, accountability and engagement within the team.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, environmental regulations and internal standards.
  • Support risk assessments, permits to work, contractor control and method statements.
  • Contribute to safety investigations, audits and corrective actions.
  • Support environmental compliance and continuous improvement, particularly within galvanising operations.

Planning, Reporting & Corporate Requirements

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset data and statutory inspection documentation.
  • Prepare maintenance, reliability and performance reports in line with corporate requirements.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications to support planning, analysis, reporting and communication.
  • Interface effectively with audits, reporting structures and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ethics & Continuous Improvement

  • Operate in line with strong ethical standards and values.
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and support structured problem solving, root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.

Role Flexibility

  • Undertake any reasonable request from site leadership required for the safe and effective operation of the facility.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised engineering qualification at Level 4 / HNC or equivalent (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Multi-Skilled).
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Engineering Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable).
  • Proven experience within an industrial manufacturing or heavy engineering environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical (415V), pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Previous experience supervising or leading maintenance personnel.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational capability.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
  • Ability to produce clear reports, maintenance plans and technical documentation.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to operate effectively within structured systems.
  • Confident communicator at both shop-floor and management level.
