A well-established manufacturing operation in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear is seeking an experienced Extrusion Operator to join its extrusion team. The role involves working within a fast-paced production environment, setting up and operating extrusion lines, drying and blending equipment, and supporting offline granulation processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and tend high-speed extrusion lines, drying and blending equipment
  • Monitor and maintain product specifications, making online adjustments where required
  • Carry out production and quality checks in line with specifications
  • Complete all quality tests and measurements accurately
  • Wrap, label and despatch finished product
  • Accurately complete all production and quality documentation
  • Support the Shift Team Leader in daily operational activities
  • Move pallets and materials safely as required
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across production and associated areas
  • Participate in hygiene audits and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote and maintain safe, healthy and hygienic working practices at all times

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Good standard of general education
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Current counterbalance forklift licence

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an extrusion manufacturing environment
  • Experience of machine operation and basic fault-finding or breakdown support
  • Working knowledge of extrusion processes and continuous improvement principles
