An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative and technically skilled Rigid Packaging Designer to join a growing design and manufacturing team. This role focuses on the development of rigid thermoformed packaging for the food and consumer goods sectors, taking concepts from initial idea through to production-ready tooling using a range of CAD/CAM and visualisation tools. Alongside design responsibilities, the role includes occasional hands-on support with CNC machining setup and prototype sampling, particularly during periods of holiday cover.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative rigid thermoformed packaging solutions aligned with customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities
- Produce accurate 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks
- Generate toolpaths and CNC machining programs using Powermill
- Create high-quality renders and visual presentations using KeyShot, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Maintain clear and accurate project documentation, ensuring effective version control throughout the development process
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in packaging design, ideally within rigid plastics or thermoforming
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling and drafting)
- Working knowledge of Powermill for toolpath creation and CNC programming
- Skilled in KeyShot visualisation and Adobe Creative Cloud for artwork and presentation development
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for documentation and communication
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including thermoforming, CNC machining, and toolmaking
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Practical, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and organisational skills

Role Details
- Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Salary: £30,000–£45,000 depending on experience
