A well-established and innovative manufacturing business, specialising in high-quality, safety-critical products, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join its growing UK operation. This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative engineering team, offering the opportunity to play a key part in maintenance, manufacturing engineering, and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair plant machinery including CNC sewing machines, ultrasonic welders, and spring winders (full training provided)
- Diagnose faults and implement effective, long-term corrective actions to minimise downtime
- Lead the introduction and development of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production
- Design and produce jigs and fixtures aligned with quality, cost, delivery, safety and customer requirements
- Source and manage spare parts, materials, and subcontractors in line with operational and cost targets
- Support health & safety compliance across all plant and machinery
- Develop and improve documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
- Assist with new product introduction, including supporting new machinery implementation
- Provide technical support during customer visits and occasional travel (UK and international)
- Train production operators in basic daily maintenance activities
- Support wider production operations when required
Candidate Requirements
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Time-served mechanical engineer
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment (safety-critical products advantageous)
- Strong experience maintaining pneumatic machinery
- Competent using Microsoft Office
- Confident working independently with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Passion for engineering, quality, safety, and continuous improvement
